Mission Opportunities

Despensa de la Paz (22nd and Lapham in the Hillview Building, Milwaukee as of May 7th) – What began as a feeding ministry out of a pick-up truck became a food pantry, and is now much, much more than that.  It is the mustard bush that grew from the tiniest of Kingdom seeds.  We are a pantry and a clothing mission, but we are also a community of hope designed to draw others into the mission with us.  We serve every Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.  First-time volunteers are asked to arrive at 8:30 for orientation. See Pastor Max at 262-227-7302 or maxrramsey@gmail.com

John C. Cudahay YMCA food pantry (91st and Brown Deer Rd., Milwaukee) – This our newest mission plant in partnership with Friedens Community Ministries, the JCYMCA, and Hunger Task Force. We will serve two days a week beginning in May with the schedule of service to be announced.  It will be most likely that at least one of those days will be a weekday.  We will model it on Despensa’s “Object and Subject of the Mission” model for growth and community development.  See Pastor Max at 262-227-7302 or maxrramsey@gmail.com

Friedens Community Ministries Pantry (12th and Vliet in the Coggs Center Building lower level, Milwaukee) – Friedens is our mission partner, and we provide volunteers to help them serve their clients.  This pantry is a major service partner with State Social Services, and serves primarily those who either are not eligible for food benefits or are not yet able to receive them.  Friedens is the food provider and 501(c)3 shelter for both Despensa and the JCYMCA pantries.  We support this mission in any way that we can. Contact Doriann Pyant at 414-289-6030 or sitemgr@friedenspantry.org

StreetLife Ministries – North (Place varies, but Northside of Milwaukee) This mission serves primarily the indigent and homeless on the Northside.  It strives to meet real needs of real people with clothing, food, and water and some creature comforts, but it is really a prayer mission.  We know the names of the people we serve and we pray for them regularly. This mission also strives to connect the disconnected by making the greater community aware of the problems that poverty creates by creating first-hand experiences for them to serve in.  Contact Chris Jedlicka at 272-373-1685, Pastor Max at 262-227-7302 or maxrramsey@gmail.com, or Jack Ramsey at 262-957-6586 or j_s_ramsey@earthlink.net . StreetLife Ministries – South “Little Angels (10th and Madison, Milwaukee) This mission serves primarily the indigent and homeless on the Northside.  It strives to meet real needs of real people with clothing, food, and water and some creature comforts, but it is really a prayer mission. This mission serves every Tuesday from 4:00 to about 6:00.  This is courageous outreach designed to meet needs and bring Good News to the poor, the addicted, and the forgotten on the Southside of Milwaukee.  Contact Georgia Haynes at 414-514-4726 or send her a friend request/message on Facebook.
